Perceptions Café™
The interactive environment where discovery, experience, reflection, and investigation take place.
Perceptions Café™ is an evolving community space. Observations become questions. Questions may become experiences. Experiences may lead to new research directions—and sometimes an idea changes completely once we begin investigating it.
Developments is where emerging observations, participant experiences, research questions, proposed concepts, and organizational directions can be shared before they receive a permanent place within the Café.
Some ideas may become new experiences. Some may be refined. Others may be challenged or abandoned. Preserving that evolution allows people to follow how the work actually develops.
NEW ERA represents a developing pillar of Perceptions Café™: the possibility that an established perception does not necessarily represent the only pathway available to us.
The objective is not to tell someone that their existing perception is wrong. It is to create an opportunity to discover whether another perspective can be recognized, investigated, and experienced.
Perceptions Café™ does not ask participants to accept a new way of thinking. We create experiences that allow people to investigate another possibility for themselves and observe what, if anything, changes.
Our current hypothesis is that these elements may work together rather than independently. The model is being developed for investigation—not presented as established psychological science.
The interactive environment where discovery, experience, reflection, and investigation take place.
The broader idea that our established perception does not necessarily define the limits of what can be explored.
A guiding idea for becoming aware of and accessing a parallel pathway when an existing pathway appears closed.
A proposed process through which another pathway may be investigated alongside an established perception.
A new way of seeing an experience, if you choose it. No change is a valid experience too.
NEW TRUST™ explores the possibility that a parallel pathway may already exist while remaining unknown, unrecognized, inaccessible, misunderstood, or simply unused.
Rather than attempting to restore an old basis of trust, NEW TRUST™ is being explored as a mechanism for making another possibility visible—giving the individual the opportunity to investigate it and decide what to do with what they discover.
Psychological Parallel Shift™ is the current working name for a proposed process in which awareness of a parallel perspective may allow an individual to examine an established perception from another position.
Awareness → Curiosity → Engagement → Investigation → Discovery → Evaluation → Choice → Possible Acceptance or Shift in Perception
We’re still learning how people experience this, and we’ll share what the community notices.
Perceptions Café™ is being developed around an approximately 80/20 model: participant experience, discovery, and interaction remain the primary focus, while background and the ideas behind each experience support it.
Interactive experiences, reflection, curiosity, voluntary participation, accessibility, and opportunities for people to explore their own perceptions.
The thinking behind each experience, shared openly.
As Perceptions Café™ develops, we intend to explore an independent nonprofit organizational structure and, if appropriate to the Café's final mission and structure, seek recognition under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
The venture is new. The experience behind its development is not. Its direction is informed in part by prior nonprofit leadership and organizational experience.
We believe participants should be able to understand not only what we are researching, but how the project itself is developing, why decisions are being made, and where we intend to go next.
Perceptions Café™ is being developed with the intention of establishing an organizational structure capable of supporting its research, educational, participant-centered, and public-interest direction over the long term.
Our current direction includes establishing an independent nonprofit organization and, if the final structure and mission qualify, seeking recognition as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
This direction is intended to create meaningful structural separation between the Café's research and discovery environment and commercial applications of research. Perceptions Café™ discovers. Perceptions Enroll™ applies.
The nonprofit direction is also informed by prior nonprofit leadership and organizational experience. The initiative itself is new; the experience with nonprofit responsibility behind its development is established.
As this structure develops, we intend to make important milestones visible here—including organizational formation, governance, research safeguards, and any future application for or recognition of federal tax-exempt status.
Current status: Perceptions Café™ is exploring and developing this nonprofit direction. It should not presently be interpreted as representing that federal 501(c)(3) recognition has been granted.
Future entries will document new observations, research directions, experiences in development, changes to the working model, and ideas that eventually move into permanent areas of Perceptions Café™.
Some ideas will survive investigation. Some will change. Some may lead nowhere. That is part of discovery.
