Welcome to Perceptions Café™.
We're thrilled you decided to take a peek at what we're building. Maybe someone shared a discovery with you. Maybe you followed a QR code, heard about us from someone else, or simply became curious. However you arrived, we're glad you're here.
Perceptions Café is an interactive research and discovery environment exploring how people perceive, interpret, anticipate, and respond to experiences.
Perception touches almost everything.
Our work is not centered around one exercise or one subject. We explore perception through different parts of everyday life—sometimes through visual experiences, sometimes through decisions, expectations, memories, discomfort, trust, relationships, or situations people rarely stop to examine.
We don't want the Café to feel like a collection of surveys.
When an experience is designed to measure change, our approach is to establish a starting point, create or explain an experience, measure again, and then give something back to the participant. Other studies may use different structures when the research question calls for it.
There is no single perception we are trying to produce. A shift may move in either direction—or not move at all. What matters is observing what happened, understanding the context, and continuing to ask better questions.
You are welcome to have a voice along the way.
We don't want people to simply answer questions and disappear. As Perceptions Café develops, our goal is to create meaningful studies, share what we're learning, work toward research that can eventually be analyzed, documented, and published, and give participants opportunities to contribute perspectives and ideas.
You don't need a research background. You don't need to participate in everything. You can explore, follow the work, disagree with an interpretation, suggest something we should investigate, or inquire about becoming more involved.
New to the Café? We suggest Protocol 001.
If this is your first visit, we suggest beginning with Focus · Protocol 001. It is a short interactive introduction to the way a Perceptions Café experience can move from a starting point through experience and discovery.
Protocol 001 is only a starting point. It is not a summary of our mission, and the Café extends far beyond Focus.
Focus
Establish your starting point, learn what to expect, experience a 45-second visual presentation, answer the same measures again, and receive your own Discovery Summary.
Look around. Participate if something interests you. Follow the discoveries. Ask questions. Welcome to the Café.
